The Red Roo Story

In 1990, five modellers who were tired of the repetitious club scene got together and formed a group known as Wombat Models. The name was chosen because of the almost universal application of the wombat's attributes to the members of the group. Wombat models set about creating specialised displays which endeavoured to tell a story as well as present models for viewing. During this period, a brief foray was made into resin casting. In 1995, the interests of the group had diverged. One of the group developed an interest is producing specialised high quality resin castings and clear easy to read modelling profiles packed with the kind of stuff that modeller's want. Together with one other founding member taking on the role of Executive Editor, a new company, Red Roo Models, was formed to achieve the mission goal of providing the serious modeller with fine resin castings and high quality profiles. The concept was simple; clear, easy to read modelling profiles offering the maximum of information with the minimum of mind numbing technical text. These profiles have been designed with the modeller in mind. They feature a total emphasis on building the model in question, understanding the options available to the modeller and providing the best visual references possible.

The profiles are designed to open flat, be a comfortable size and contain the maximum number of photographs, drawings and colour scheme profiles possible. Lists abound within the pages of the profiles; clear tabulated data that, at a glance, will provide the modeller with the basic information he or she needs to answer those nagging question that crop up during every project. Concise, accurate captions describe each photograph and drawing used so that quick reference to a particular photo will reveal not only the detail required but also an explanation of it.

The series will continue to expand. Future profiles include: the Kittyhawk, the Avon Sabre and the Spitfire, all in Royal Australian Air Force service. Attention will be paid to modern aircraft of all three Australian Defence Services.

The range of titles will continue to grow.  So watch this site and the modelling press for future announcements regarding new titles.
